Nollywood actor, Odunlade Adekola Is Back As Globacom Ambassador

This is officially Endorsement season as a lot of Nollywood stars are bagging deals left and right. popular Yoruba movie star, Odunlade Adekola is the newest actor to seal a multi-million naira deal with telecommunications giant, Globacom.

In a brief chat with our source, he disclosed that, “I feel so honored and important. Seriously I don’t know what to say because I am still in shock but I just keep thanking God for his mercy on me. I can recollect few months ago, someone called me from Glo office and asked for my details and personal data, so few weeks back, I was called again and invited to the office”.

The new Glo brand ambassador says he was not expecting this success, adding that this contract happens to be a big one for him.

Last week, Wizkid also became a Glo ambassador after signing a deal of N100m with the company.

However, the comic actor had ties with GLO in 2013 but his contract was not renewed due to unclear reasons. He is now back as an ambassador of the telecommunication brand.

Wasiu Alabi Adetola is better known as Pasuma Wonder. He is one the most respected musicians in Nigeria, with the Fuji star having been active in the music setting for over 30 years. The Kwara State-born entertainer made a decision to go into Pop music fully last year and he will be releasing his first pop album which features collaborations with stars like Tiwa Savage, Olamide, Phyno, Terry G, Oritsefemi among others.

In this exclusive interview with NET, Pasuma speaks on his forthcoming album and sundry issues.

Tell us about your forthcoming pop album

The album is ready. It will be released on the 30th of July. It is a 15-track album that features pop stars like Tiwa Savage, Oritsefemi, Terry G, Phyno, Olamide, Patoranking etc. The album is titled My World. We have released a couple of songs off the album and the acceptance has been great.The first track we pushed out was ‘Abo’, it’s a dancehall song, we followed it up with ‘Ife’, the one that features Tiwa Savage. After releasing dancehall and R&B singles, I decided to do a rap single titled ‘Ogede Ti Pon’. I chose not to feature anyone on the rap single because I don’t want people to see it like ‘Ife’ blew because Tiwa Savage is on it. And recently, we dropped ‘Oruka’.

You are a renowned Fuji musician, what inspired you into getting involved with pop music?

I got the inspiration from the street. And at the same time, I have been doing pop music before now. I can say I’m one of those who started pop music in Nigeria. I am not new in the game.

Hope your going into pop music will not affect your Fuji career?

It’s not going to affect it. The whole thing is, as an artiste, you should be able to diversify. Diversity is very very important in anything you do. My fans have always known that I can do pop music, because I have always been infusing it into my Fuji music, and it has really helped my career a great deal. My fans have always been yearning for it, they have always been asking me when I am going to drop my pop album, and now that me and my management company AO@21 media thought it is long overdue, we have decided to give it to them .I love my Fuji music more. That is where I belong anytime any day. I am a Fuji musician but I should be able to do something new. And it is not a surprise to a lot of people because we have always been doing the hip hop thing right from when it started. Way back in 1996, you would remember I did Keep On Rocking with Remedies. 1996 till now is 18 years ago and I believe some of the new artistes making waves today were still in primary school then. So I have always been doing it.

You have been recording with big acts in the last one year, how has the experience been?

The experience has been wonderful. They all love me and see me as their brother and as their daddy. Like when I met D’Banj, he was like Baba Pasuma, and I said don’t call me Baba, and he was like he has been listening to my music since he was a little boy. So that shows the respect they have for me. So working with them has been very interesting. I am enjoying the swag that goes with the hip hop thing. Even when I am doing my Fuji, I still do it with swag. I am enjoying it, it makes me feel younger and I am happy about that. I think if I want to come back to this world again, I will still want to be Pasuma. We don’t get to see new Fuji musicians coming out like before when there were quite a lot of them like Shanko Rashidi, Wasiu Container etc. It’s because the marketers have stopped the Fuji musicians from doing collaboration albums. If we have been doing the collaboration thing, you will see new Fuji musicians coming out but we have been doing everything to ensure that they lift the ban on collaboration albums. The hip hop people have been helping themselves by doing collaboration. Nobody knew Phyno until he featured Olamide in ‘Ghostmode’. If the young Fuji artistes are doing collaboration with the established ones, it will help their career a great deal.

 what are you doing on your own to help grow the industry?

We have a talent hunt platform we are working on. It’s called ‘Ohun’ which means voice. With this, we should be able to discover new Fuji musicians and they will be signed to my record label , WASBAR Records.

Tell us more about the label

WASBAR record is owned by me. I and my manager, Afolabi Oyekoya, the boss of AO21 media sat together and said this is the right time for us to have our own record label. And we have signed Q.Dot who sang ‘Ibadan ni mo wa’ and we are still hoping to sign a few other artistes.

How did you arrive at name of the label?

I coined the name from my daughters’ names – Wasilat and Barakat.

Are they involved in the running of the label?

They will later be involved because our plan is to make the label a very big brand. But for now, it’s just me and my manager, Afolabi Oyekoya that are running it.

Would you allow any of your children to go into music? They are free to do whatever they like. I won’t stop any of them from going into music. But they have to finish their university education first.

How long have you been doing music?

I have been doing Fuji music for over 30 years. We were supposed to celebrate my 30 years anniversary last year but because of our busy schedule all through the year, we had to push it to this year. I started in 1984.

How has the journey been?

It’s been interesting and challenging. It’s been 31 years of hard work. I just want to thank God. Have you achieved what you set out to achieve with your career? I think what I have achieved so far is fulfilling…

Why I moved from MTN to Glo – Wizkid

Nigerian music star, Wizkid, in an official statement signed by his manager, Sunday Are, has come out to say why he quit his ambassadorial role for MTN and moved over to indigenous telecom company, Globacom.
Globacom is huge in this industry and I see the evidence of the company's commitment to improving the industry and the lives of its practitioners everywhere I turn. To be honest, it's been a dream to have a working relationship with the Glo brand. An opportunity to turn this dream to reality came, and I took it.
It's an incredible blessing to be sought after by arguably Nigeria's two most powerful brands at the same time. My decision to go with Globacom this time is not an act of spite against MTN. I simply seized an opportunity to move from Yellow land to greener pastures. God bless!

LESBIANISM: Two Actresses Fight Dirty (Photos)

Two Nollywood actresses have been caught up in what can be called lesbianism mess.
The two Yoruba actresses, Biodun Okeowo and Adediwura Adesegha, popularly called Wura Gold, are said to have been close friends but are now in war of words since the friendship has gone sour. Although there are efforts to save their friendship by their colleagues, it seems the grudge they have against each other cannot be resolved as they take time to abuse each other publicly no matter where they meet.
According to BestofNollywood.tv, the fight between these actresses has really degenerated to the point where these actresses wash their dirty linens outside by openly calling each other  lesbians. Yesterday, a personal message on Biodun Okeowo's BBM Status was quite disturbing. She cursed Wura Gold, saying that she won't reap the fruits of her kids. See the update below:
When she was called to ask why she put up such a statement on her BBM, she said;
"Wura Gold was my friend before and we were very good friends. But I started to give her space when I started realizing the kind of person she truly was.

"She told me she wants us to become lovers as in becoming Lesbian partners. I told her wasn't interested… And that was it. Wura started going around calling me names. She spoils my name in front of everyone… Recently when I went for 'TESFIR' Ramadan Lecture. Some people saw me and started calling me friends with Wura Gold, I told them she is not my friend. At least not any more. Liz Dasilva then decided to set in to resolve the cause of the quarrel between us. Liz then called myself and Wura on a conference and tried talking to us. When I opened up to Liz on the reason Wura is fighting me, Wura started to curse me and my children. That was what prompted my BBM update."

However, when Wura Gold was contacted to clarify the issue, she revealed a different story, saying Biodun is actually the lesbian who has been wooing her. She said:

"…..on the contrary it was Biodun Okeowo that asked me to become her lover and I turned her down. Why would she turn things, people are so funny. You can go ahead and ask the likes of Anita Julius and Liz DaSilva at least they have slept in my house, if there was ever anytime I made such silly advances at any of them."

Nollywood Actor Recounts His Experience With Female Fan(Confession Time)

44-year-old Nollywood actor, Muyiwa Ademola is no doubt a ladies' man.

In an interview with Punch, the actor reveals how female fans flock around him and how he tries his best to keep them at arm's length. He said:
"When it comes to my female fans, I tread carefully. I make sure that I do not allow the handshakes to go beyond the elbow. If you study the industry properly, it is the opposite sex that appreciates a person's work the most. I have been coping fine with them."
Sharing what he experienced the first time he traveled to Ireland, the actor revealed how he met a female fan who insisted that he signed on her boobs. Although he could not bring himself to do it, he however summoned up courage to do it when a white man encouraged him to grant the female fan's request.
"The first time I went to Ireland, a lady saw me and raised her shirt asking me to sign my autograph on her breast. I was really embarrassed. She was a Nigerian probably based in Ireland and when she saw me, she shouted my name and told me I must sign on her boobs.
When a white man saw her and asked who I was, she said I was a big movie star from Africa, comparing me with Denzel Washington. I had to sign on her breast because she told me that if I did not do so, she would not put down her shirt and it was very cold. I inscribed my signature on her breast while trying not to touch it," he said.
Few days ago, the actor celebrated his 9th wedding anniversary.

The Nollywood actress Yetunde Akilapa has reportedly been disgraced as she was caught stealing once again.
Recently she was almost beaten to death by a mob in Magodo for breaking into a man's flat with the help of a master key.
The young actress, who has already been branded the name-thief, stole from her boss, where she is currently undergoing training in cosmetic makeup.
It was reported that the boss had just brought into the country iphones, laptops and other gadgets. Later at night after everybody had gone home, Yetunde went back  with a master key.
She gained entrance to the store and took away some iphones, ipads and laptops. On her way out, someone spotted her.
She was detained and later arrested but as usual, she blamed it on the devil and the strange voice she claims she usually hears that urges her to go and steal.
The shop owner, who later rushed to the scene, called in the police who took her away. But two days after, Yetunde was released which made the boss upset. She then called in another set of policemen who have now re-arrested her.

She is in custody waiting to be charged to court.
Meanwhile, Yetunde has said  that she is not a Kleptomaniac,that her problem is spiritual!

Ugliest Man In Uganda Welcomes His Eighth Baby

A 47-year-old father of seven, who has been dubbed Uganda's ugliest man, has become a father for the eighth time in Kyazanga, Lwengo district.
Godfrey Baguma has become a proud father of eight children after his wife Kate Namanda, 30, delivered a healthy baby girl. The couple now have six children together, while two others are kids from Baguma's first unsuccessful marriage.

The man, who suffers from an extremely rare, unknown disease, won his title of the ugliest country's man after he took part in the contest to make money for his family. "In 2002, I was mending shoes, when some people approached me and said they had an event at which they wanted me to be a chief guest.
They took my pictures and a few days later, I saw my picture in the newspapers where I had declared myself the ugliest man alive. I was shocked and angry at the same time because I had not said so. They also told me that as a cobbler, I could not make enough money to sustain my family.

Godfrey and Kate live in a small house, bringing up all eight children and trying to make both ends meet, but they did not complain. Kate said: "Once you find a man you think is right for you, do not listen to what other people say. Follow your heart. Money and physical appearance should not be an issue."

MTN confirms parting of ways with Wizkid, Sean Tizzle & Timaya

(MTN has confirmed that the telcom firm has parted ways with Wizkid, Timaya and Sean Tizzle as ambassadors.

As previously reported by NET, Nigeria’s leading telco firm, MTN won’t be renewing the contraits act of 3 of mbassadors until a few weeks ago. The list of those who won’t be staying with MTN contains Nigerian pop stars like Wizkid, Sean Tizzle and Timaya.

A statement signed by MTN’s General Manager, Consumer Marketing, Richard Iweanoge confirmed that the stars won’t be ambassadors of the telco this year.

‘Although there is a finite number of brand ambassadors we can have at any point in time, Nigerian artistes can continue to monetise their intellectual works through our distribution channels such as the Caller Tunez and Music Plus platforms,’ the statement states.

The statement reads further: ‘As was originally conceptualised, the ambassadorship will continually evolve to accommodate new talents and cater for diverse segments. This year, we are using a segmented approach and there will be ambassadors for each segment of our market. Using this criteria, new artistes like Cobhams Asuquo will be coming on board the MTN Ambassadorial family.’

In May 2015, stars including Davido, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr. Sid, Sound Sultan, Iyanya, Chidinma, Banky W, KCee as well as Saka, Osuofia, Mama Gee and others all renewed their contracts with MTN.

It is the season that notable Nigerian music acts have been waiting for. Don Jazzy, Iyanya, Sound Sultan and Chidinma are some of the acts who have renewed their contracts with MTN as ambassadors for another year. 

MTN Nigeria has splashed out millions on Nigerian music stars by renewing their contracts with the telco company for another year.

In the space of 48 hours, MTN concluded renewals for the endorsements of some of Nigeria’s biggest stars including Iyanya, Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Chidinma and Harrysong.

Others who have been captured so far for another year are Sound Sultan, Banky W, Dr Sid, and Praiz. By estimation, the telcom firm has spent nothing less than N400m on the music stars.

In 2013, MTN officially signed MMMG act, Iyanya for around N40m, Tiwa Savage for about N30m and another Project Fame winner, Chidinma Ekile for a figure believed to be N20m.

Along with Don Jazzy, the stars have had their agreements with the company renewed for the 3rd consecutive year last week while Dr Sid was signing for his second year with MTN.

The total signings by Mavin Records crew of Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, Dr Sid and D’Prince was valued at over N150m in 2013 and the figure is believed to have risen even further this year.

That line of thought according to observers, might not be unconnected with rumours fuelled by a statement from one Gbenga Olorunpomi that all the acts under the Mavin umbrella were set to ditch MTN for a rival and wholly Nigeria-owned company, Globacom.

In the cases of Banky W and Sound Sultan, their initial deals reportedly came in at N40m and N30m respectively while Five Star Music act, Harrysong’s was put at N10m two years ago. With all of them having remained relevant enough to add value to the brand, a substantial increase is believed to have been inserted one way or another.

All the deals were signed and renewed through the Paul Okoye led Upfront Bookings Talent Agency. Some stars like Wizkid, Davido and KCEE who are all MTN ambassadors are not in the country at the moment, which explains why there’s been no mention of their renewals.

NET reached out to a couple of the ambassadors who got their deals renewed but only Chidinma responded. She said: ‘I feel great having my deal renewed, it’s a good feeling. She however declined to comment on how much the deal is worth, saying, ‘I won’t want to talk about that, but my relationship with the brand has been great.’

We also sought to get details of the endorsement deals from the MTN through its General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Funmi Onajide but she was yet to respond to our email as at press time.

TOKE MAKINWA CONSIDERING DIVORCE? REMOVES WEDDING PHOTOS FROM HOME

It has been confirmed that Toke Makinwa's marriage to Maje Ayida is currently in distress.

However, that didn't stop the embattled OAP from posting her weekly vlog.

Toke based her today's topic on moving on after been heartbroken.

She addressed men who cheat on women & why the society needs to stop blaming the women.

She also directly addressed her own situation, saying;"I'm not going to carry on like my world has not been completely turned upside down. I know that a lot of you have read what you might have read. Thank you for your prayers and emails" she said

She then tells women not to ever blame themselves if men cheat on them, that they should keep their heads up, saying it's not the end of the world and that the sun will shine again.

Meanwhile, in the new vlog which she shared today, something which was in the background in previous videos was conspicuously missing. It's the framed wedding photo of her wedding to Maje.

She's removed it. And there are on going speculation that she might quit the marriage soon due to pressure.
